Sarah Maisel has been hailed as the “Queen of Jazz 'Ukulele” by international music critics, as she took the world by storm and strum in 2013. Since that year she has been performing and teaching around the world at such events as The 'Ukulele Festival of Great Britain, The Cairns 'Ukulele Festival (Australia), and the Hawai'i Island 'Ukulele Retreat.
Originally from Birmingham Alabama, Sarah studied classical violin for 10 years. After moving to San Diego, CA, she soon discovered the 'ukulele (in 2006) and her new musical adventure began. Her first album was recorded in 2010, and she has three albums to her credit. For Sarah, the joy of the 'ukulele isn’t in just performing- she is an avid teacher and loves to share her knowledge of the instrument with everyone she meets. If you can’t make it to one of her many “hometown” shows in San Diego, be sure to look for her at various 'ukulele festivals around the US and globe.
2013 was a big year for Sarah, as she traveled and performed at 'Ukulele Festivals around the world. These festivals included The 'Ukulele Festival of Great Britain, The Cairns 'Ukulele Festival, The Hawai'i Island 'Ukulele Retreat, and many more. Also in this year she met and began collaborating with Craig Chee. This collaboration created more travel for 2014, where they both traveled around the world touring and recording an International Limited Release album called "Say When".
Though Sarah does enjoy traveling, there is still no place like home. When she is in San Diego, you can find her performing at local gigs and teaching from her studio. For her, the greatest joy is sharing music with her students.
